Abstract

Two manuscript notebooks containing copies of poems, extracts from histories and travel books, lengthy translations into French prose of portions of MacPherson's "Fingal", summaries and discussion of Italian "epic poetry", newspaper clippings, a description and history of Poland, an incomplete essay "On Ancient Castles" illustrated with pencil sketches, extensive excerpts from a work on the Canary Islands, and "Notes on Books which I may probably wish to purchase."
